A UN commission probing Syria rights abuses has gathered enough evidence to convict President Bashar al-Assad of war crimes Cheap Jeff Skinner Jersey , an outgoing member of the commission said in interviews published Sunday.
Veteran former war crimes prosecutor Carla del Ponte, who is preparing to step down after five years serving in the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria, told Swiss media the evidence against Assad was sufficient to secure a war crimes conviction.
"I am convinced of that," she told Le Matin Dimanche and the Sonntagszeitung weeklies, adding though that with no international court or prosecutor tasked with trying the Syria war crimes cases, justice would remain elusive.
"That is why the situation is so frustrating. The preparatory work has been done, but nevertheless, there is no prosecutor and no court," she told Sonntagszeitung. "It's a tragedy."
Del Ponte, a 70-year-old Swiss national who came to prominence investigating war crimes in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia, made the shock announcement earlier this month that she would resign from the UN commission because it "does absolutely nothing."

Maruyama Gen, a Japanese man in his eighties, traveled hundreds of miles by bicycle to visit the 9.18 History Museum in the northeastern China city of Shenyang, to condemn the Japanese Imperial Army's invasion of China during World War II.
He began his journey in his birthplace, Harbin, in Heilongjiang province, and arrived in Shenyang, Liaoning province, on Monday after riding for hundreds of miles.
Wearing a white shirt and sneakers, he gazed at monuments of anti-Japanese aggression before going through historical records and materials from the war.
"I'm still shocked upon seeing these photos despite my psychological preparation," he said.
A picture depicting human heads that had been cut off Chinese citizens especially evoked his horror.
"The Japanese military bombed Chinese railways in order to initiate the war. A country like this is horrifying," said the aged.
Once back in Japan, he plans to dedicate himself to educating Japanese youth, telling them about the crimes the Japanese Imperial Army committed against China during the war. Japan should recognize history to raise hopes for peace, he said.
Maruyama is currently cycling to Huludao in Liaoning province, where he left China for Japan at the age of 11. He is determined to relive his journey by visiting Changchun and Shenyang along the way.
LONDON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Only 3.4 percent of Britain's most powerful and influential people are from black and minority ethnic groups, the Guardian newspaper reported Monday, citing an analysis highlighting startling inequality despite decades of British legislation to address discrimination.
From a list of just over 1,000 political, financial, judicial, cultural and security figures drawn up by the Guardian in partnership with Operations Black Vote and in consultation with academics, only 36 were from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME).
The proportion of women from black and minority ethnic backgrounds on the list of Britain's most powerful people is 0.7 percent, representing a grand total of seven, said the newspaper.
The numbers betray a disconnection with the composition of the UK population, 12.9 percent of whom have an ethnic minority background. In some sectors -- the politics, the military, the supreme court and the security services, as well as top consultancies and law firms -- there were no non-white people in position of leadership.
The analysis looked at the ethnicity of 1,049 people across 30 categories covering politics and the civil service, policing, defence and the judiciary, stock exchange companies and business, professional services including the heads of law, accountancy, advertising, consulting and publishing firms, arts bodies, the media, trade unions, top universities, sporting bodies, and health and medical services.
"The results call into question the effectiveness of legislation such as the 2000 Race Relations Act and 2010 Equality Act," the newspaper added.
