COLOMBO， May 23 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka on Monday arrested a former top police officer in connection to a highly publicized and controversial murder case.
Former senior deputy inspector general of police Anura Senanayake was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigations Department in connection to the murder of former Sri Lanka national rugger player Wasim Thajudeen.
Senanayake was arrested after being questioned earlier in the day and was accused of concealing evidence when he was involved in the investigations.
Earlier this month， the police officer in charge of motor traffic Amarasiri Senaratne was also questioned by the police over Thajudeen's murder.
A local Magistrate in February ordered the police to arrest the suspects linked to Thajudeen's murder after it was revealed that political interference was hampering the probe.
Thajudeen died on May 17， 2012 in Colombo and his body was found in his car which had crashed into a wall.
According to police reports in 2012， the rugby player was driving home after attending a party when he lost control of the car and crashed into a wall.
The police claimed that the car had exploded instantly and burnt the victim.
However， suspicions later arose over the manner in which he died and it was believed that he was murdered.

JIUQUAN, June 15 (Xinhua) -- China launched its first X-ray space telescope to observe black holes, pulsars and gamma-ray bursts nike air max flair scontate , via a Long March-4B rocket from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gobi Desert at 11 a.m. Thursday.
The 2.5-tonne Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), dubbed Insight, was sent into an orbit of 550 kilometers above the earth to help scientists better understand the evolution of black holes, and the strong magnetic fields and the interiors of pulsars.
Through the telescope, scientists will also study how to use pulsars for spacecraft navigation nike air vapormax plus scontate , and search for gamma-ray bursts corresponding to gravitational waves.
The result of the wisdom and efforts of several generations of Chinese scientists, Insight is expected to push forward the development of space astronomy and improve space X-ray detection technology in China.
Insight can be regarded as a small observatory in space, as it carries a trio of detectors -- the high energy X-ray telescope (HE), the medium energy X-ray telescope (ME) and the low energy X-ray telescope (LE) -- that cover a broad energy band from 1 keV to 250 keV, said Lu Fangjun nike air vapormax 97 scontate , chief designer of the payload.

According to Zhang Shuangnan, HXMT lead scientist, the satellite's developers found that a set of HXMT high-energy detectors, originally designed to shield background noises caused by unwanted particles, could be adjusted to observe gamma-ray bursts.
